gangsta' mack in'a {pink} cadillac

Mary Kay has a men's line? Yes, I guess recently they have added a line just for men. A couple of weeks ago a friend invited me to a Mary Kay party. I am always hesitant about attending those types of parties because the person usually continues to call and push the product and company on you. However, this friend assured me that this would not happen...and so far, so good. At this party, our girl needed to host another show so my friend booked it for last night.

To make it more fun and interesting she said we could book it as a "couple" Mary Kay party. Couple? You mean we could invite the boys? And these aren't just the usual boys...they're more like juvenile pranksters. What could be more fun than that? After a little convincing and begging from their wives the boys agreed to go. We started out with the five steps to treat your face. Wash, moisturize, water, tone, and protect. The boys participated in all five steps except the "protect" step which consisted of using foundation. All in all, the night was a blast and having the boys there made it a Mary Kay party to remember.

the box that contains the answer

Yes, inside this box is the answer to the question we've all been dying to know...is it a boy or girl?

Now, you might ask how and why does this little brown box hold the answer? Two weeks ago we went to the Dr. for a routine checkup and talked with the ultrasound nurse about the possibility of finding out the sex of the baby. Since she was able to tell what we were having, we had her write down boy or girl and include the scan in an envelope that she then sealed shut.

We took that envelope to a store where we picked out a boy outfit and a girl outfit. The cashier was given the two outfits along with the envelope. We told her to open the envelope, ring up the correct outfit with our gift card as payment, put the envelope, receipt/gift card, and outfit in a box and we would come back later to pick it up. So now, a random stranger knows the answer and so does a little brown box sitting on our piano.

Our baby now has a coming home outfit creatively picked out by it's parents.

the baby shower in ohio

A few weeks ago I traveled to Ohio for a baby shower given by my family. It was a fun and exciting trip. I was able to fly out of Springfield (which is usually unheard of) for a decent rate. I arrived just two hours after I left instead of the usual 10-11 hours later.

We spent Friday night visiting with family, friends, and preparing last minute details for the shower the following afternoon. The day of the shower we set up the designated area of the church and decorated it with colors pulled from my nursery decor. It was perfect. We added a unique touch to the shower...a quick slide show to display the nursery progress since most of the guests will not be able to travel down to Missouri.

There was a vast amount of food...three full tables worth. Crystal plates and punch cups were provided to eat and drink from. Although, my "china" was a plastic plate and sippy cup. Oh, and did I mention my aunts didn't think I could manage to keep my shirt clean without the help of a bib. They did fail to mention that I could not remove the sippy cup lid. The most extraordinary dish displayed was fresh fruits that were served out of a bowl made out of flower petals and ice. The cakes were delicious...since we do not know if we are having a boy or a girl...two cakes were required. An all chocolate decorated in blue for a boy, and a white with raspberry filling decorated in pink for a girl.

The party was amazing and it was very well planned and organized. Thank you to my mom and my aunts that made it all incredible. I couldn't have asked for anything more, it was more than I could have imagined. Also, thank you for all those family and friends that attended...now, if I could only get all these thank you notes mailed out before the baby arrives!

The nursery is almost complete...just a few final decor items to add.
